Cement Tile – Modified Patchwork Pattern

Our always popular patchwork pattern is a mix of our in-stock patterned and solid handmade cement tiles. This random installation can take on many variations as no two floors or walls will ever look the same. There is always a different tile or beautiful design to catch the eye.

Lately some of our clients have been taking matters into their own hands and picking exactly the patterns and colors they want in their patchwork to create their own beautiful spaces. Instead of ordering pre-shuffled boxes of random tiles, they are ordering full boxes of their favorite patterns and colors and shuffling on site.

Here are some great examples we have recently received from our clients.

The patchwork look works well in both modern and traditional spaces, and can be used on both walls and floors.

Let us know if we can assist you in creating your own patchwork cement tile masterpiece!

Laundry Room Delight – Dallas, TX

Sometimes we receive amazing photos from customers using our handmade cement tile that make you say wow!

Laundry rooms, utility rooms and mudrooms are often a place to do laundry and hang up your dirty boots. They are typically devoid of any character and personality as we look to spend as little time in the rooms as possible.

Our clients in Dallas, TX shared these great pictures that show what is possible in these small spaces with a little imagination. We would have no problem doing laundry if our room looked like this!

Our in-stock Sevilla Gold cement tile pattern was used as a feature wall surrounding the window and wash sink to create great visual interest in the space.

Custom Kitchen Backsplash – Berkeley, CA

Lane McNab of Urban Orchard Interiors in Berekeley, CA loves to create beautiful and functional spaces that have a sense of authenticity, meaning and character to the people living there as well as the home itself. Lane was kind enough to share pictures from a recent installation of some of our handmade cement tiles.

The craftsman house involved in the project is over 100 years old. It’s a brown shingle craftsman very typical of the local homes and the owners are bringing it back to life little by little. The owners are both wonderful cooks (she’s French so of course!) and spend a lot of time in their well-used kitchen. The home was updated sometime in the 80’s and was ready for a serious face-lift. The clients wanted to incorporate a French/Moroccan style with the architectural elements of a craftsman. We think they succeeded!

Brooklyn Brownstone Renovation – Custom Cement Tile

When a Brooklyn couple were renovating their brownstone home, they wanted to do something a little splashy in the entry while still keeping with the overall feel of the house.

The homeowners looked through dozens of available flooring options, but couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for. Because of the small entry space they wanted tile that would work in a small pattern and also desired an option that would allow them to select their own color choices. Our cement tile designs and colors can be custom ordered in many colors and patterns. This turned out to be a great option.

Along with their architect Ben Herzog and contractor Frank Naccarato, the homeowners selected our Jerez handmade cement tile pattern in 4″ x 4″ tiles. They also selected a custom color combination. The smaller tiles allowed them to show more of the pattern in their small space. We think you’ll agree that the finished space is stunning!

The couple’s brownstone renovation is chronicled on the blog www.wandernesting.com.

Please contact Cement Tile Shop at (800) 704-2701 for information on custom cement tile colors or patterns. Custom orders typically ship in approximately 8 weeks.

Our Dubois cement tile pattern was used beautifully in the kitchen backsplash to continue the mid-century design from the living area through to the kitchen and tie the entire space together.

The tile used in this project was 8″ x 8″, but our tiles can be customized in many sizes and colors. Please contact Cement Tile Shop at (800) 704-2701 to incorporate cement tile into your backsplash or for more information.

Cement Tile – A San Francisco Treat

Regan Baker Design is a full-service interior design and styling company in the San Francisco Bay area. They transform ordinary homes into spaces that reflect your personality and lifestyle.

Recently, the designers used our cement tile in two gorgeous San Francisco projects.

One of our favorite patterns, Moorish, was used in a Duboce Park home transformation for stylish brewery owners.  The home was designed as an organic modern oasis reflecting a modern aesthetic and sustainable, green conscience lifestyle.

Cement tile is a green, environmentally friendly flooring product, created using basic earth components and a centuries old method. The tiles are colored with natural pigments and do not give off any fumes at all. Minimum energy, except human ‘elbow grease’, is used to make our cement tiles. Cement tiles are completely handmade and never have to be fired in a kiln, which means that the amount of energy used in the manufacturing process is very low. Because no firing is required, no pollution creating fossil fuels are used in the production of the tile. The process does not use any harsh chemicals that might affect the environment.

Our cement tile was also used by Regan Baker Design for a new en-suite master bathroom in a remodel in Noe Valley Beach. The designers used the geometric Liverpool II tile pattern in the Victorian home to add color and visual interest to the space.
